Rob Storrar, Managing Director of Amdecc Dental Laboratory (Stand H40) will be speaking on the hot new topic Minimal Prep/Prepless Veneers and Occlusion at the Aesthetic Technician Lecture at the forthcoming Dentistry Show, NEC Birmingham. Rob’s spot is at 11.00am on Friday 4 March 2011 and well worth attending.
Last year we had a great opportunity to get involved with Smile Design Dentistry in the Middle East working with some of the leading clinicians in that area providing services for the largest private hospital in Kuwait City. You could be forgiven for thinking that one of the most modern cities in the region would have a thriving private sector particularly for dental care but most of the patients requiring advanced dentistry were actually travelling to Dubai or as far afield as Asia for treatment!
So in the summer of last year we embarked upon the first of many, planned treatment programmes, and started our first eight cases, waxing them to the Hornbrook principles. Rob arranged to travel to Kuwait to oversee the prepping of these large cases and assist the clinician, thereby providing the highest standard of service for the patient - teamwork and communication are always key if the best possible outcomes are to be achieved.
Rob was also involved in training the hospital technicians to raise the standards in their General Dentistry, and to make them aware of the new techniques that they had not taken advantage which we in England take for granted. He was also privileged to be asked to help redesign the Dental Laboratory there.
The work was then transported back to the UK for creation in the Amdecc Dental Laboratory. Rob then returned to Kuwait, with the dental restorations to assist with the final fit for each case. Rob said "the results were amazing, but even more so because of the level of dentistry that was available to them before. The effect on the patients confidence was clearly evident and made it all extremely worthwhile. I am looking forward to my next visit, the cases for which are already being planned with others to be scheduled throughout the year. The hospitality is fantastic and I am always made to feel very welcome; I consider all the people in the Dental Department as my friends."
